Tim completed his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Hawaii Pacific University and his master’s degree in clinical Mental Health Counseling with a Substance Disorder emphasis at Antioch University. He was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps after serving his country for twenty years. Tim’s extensive experience in both the military and civilian community has shaped his belief in the potential of individuals and families. He believes that with the right motivation and the courage to seek growth through vulnerability and hard work, clients can accomplish many of the goals they desire.
Tim has worked in community mental health settings, including school-based, community health, private practice settings, and mental health advocacy organizations. Everyone’s journey is unique. What works for one person might not necessarily work for another. Tim can help you begin improving your life no matter where you are. Tim considers it an honor to accompany clients on their journey to improved outcomes. He views the counseling process as an alliance between client and therapist and considers clients the experts on their lives.
Tim’s approach to counseling is rooted in the belief that clients are in charge of their own experiences. He guides them to understand which aspects of their life they can control and which they cannot. In this therapeutic partnership, clients are expected to do the work, be accountable, and be present in the counseling alliance. Tim’s goal as a therapist is to provide a safe environment where clients can explore their primary interests, develop goals, and determine their strengths and assets as they move toward their aspirations.
